“Beijing Key Laboratory for Safety Testing & Controlling of Harmful Microorganisms of Agricultural Products and Pesticide Residues” is established on the basis of platform of food safety inspection of Food Science and Engineering College of our school. Under the support of related disciplines, such as biography and botany protection, and gardening etc, and depending on Food Science and Engineering, complete food security research system, which from farmland to preproduction, in production and post-production, has formed successfully.
The Laboratory's mission is to service the agricultural products and food security of Beijing. It has integrated teaching, scientific research and social service and combines the demands of food safety of Beijing and requirements of urban agricultural development, and then it implements four research orientations thereinafter:
Orientation 1 Research on the Control Technology of Pesticide and Fungistat of Harmful Microorganisms of Agricultural Products in Field, Storing and Processing
This orientation mainly applies the theories and technologies of chemistry, microorganism and molecular biology and takes plants and microorganism as materials to select new botanic sources and microbial source pesticide and fungistat the features with high-efficiency, non-poisonousness, pollution-free and ecological safety; then, to research the application in field processing and food processing and inventory period.
The Research Contents Include:
①Extractive technique of antibacterial active ingredient in natural plants; ②Development of natural fungistat and research on antibacterial mechanism; ③Safety evaluation on natural fungistat ④Application on natural fungistat and preparation of technical standards; ⑤Research on biological antagonistic bacteria and development of its fungistat; ⑥Application and preparation of technical standards for biological antagonistic bacteria and its extractives.
Orientation 2 Research on Rapid Detection Technology of Mycotoxins
This orientation applies the immune receptors technology into the rapid detection of residual mycotoxins in food.
The Research Contents Include:
①development of mycotoxins and preparation of artificial antigen through coupling with carriers;②To establish the system of monoclonal antibody of mycotoxins and then get the high quality cell lines; finally the specificity monoclonal antibody will be obtained after purification; ③ to establish the system of immune receptor assay of mycotoxins and develop the rapid detection reagent card and then, confirm related test standard methods.
Orientation 3 Research on High-throughput Detection Technology of Pesticide and Related Chemical Contaminant Residues
The Research Contents Include: ①Selection and Optimization for Sample Treatment Methods;② Establishment of Detection Methods; ③Methodological Evaluation.
Orientation 4 Research on Biochemical Online Measurement Technology of Food Processing
The research orientation is applicable to the biochemical online measurement technology of food processing, namely, drainage detection system is adopted in processing lines to reflect and express the easy detective variables and parameters (generally refer to physical and conventional chemical parameters) for processing period (such as fermentation process, processing for fruit and vegetable juice).
The Research Contents Include:
① Test the liquid raw materials (conductive materials), through the change of impedance at the moment of transmitting currents, then to reflect the impedance methods (or permittivity) of microbial growth conditions (permittivity); ② make use of the changes in the value of absorbance to reflect the turbidimetry of concentration of parameters to be measured (such as pesticide ingredients) for sample extracting solution etc.
Currently, the laboratory is equipped with SFE-2 prime system of Supercritical Fluid Extraction, one PSE 240V Accelerated Solvent Extraction, EMC-500A Medium and High Pressure Preparative Chromatography, OPD-8 Spray Drying, LGJ-18 Freeze Drying Facility, Agilent’s GC-MS, LC-MS and related high-end instruments and equipment at home and abroad with the value above 10 million yuan.
In recent years, the laboratory undertakes many national-level scientific research projects, such as “the Eleventh Five-year-plan” Technology Support Program, Natural Science Foundation of China and Fund for Overseas Students of Ministry of Personnel etc. Meanwhile, it assumes more than 60 scientific research tasks of Beijing Natural Science Funds, Beijing Science and Technology Commission, Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Beijing Municipal Agricultural Commission with the funds of more than 8.3 million yuan, including more than 240 theses, 1 award of Scientific and Technological Advancement of Beijing, 4 awards of Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology and awards of Science and Technology of China Chamber of Commerce, and 9 national patents for invention.
There are 20 scientific research staffs in the Laboratory, including 4 people with senior titles, 7 people with senior vice titles, and 11 people with doctorates. The middle age employees and young scientific and technical personnel, who are under 45 years old, account for 75% totally. Consequently, the laboratory is equipped with a team of scientific and technological talents that features with younger, high quality and powerful energy.
