Since its establishment in 2003, the College of International Education of BUA has been committed to international cooperation in the field of higher education, striving to explore and utilize high-quality educational resources from abroad. In the context of an increasingly globalized economy, it has successfully constructed a higher education environment and platform for international talent cultivation by keeping pace with the development of global higher education and advocating cross-cultural education. Currently, various forms of cooperation have been established with institutions of higher learning in many countries such as the UK, Australia, and the US. Since 2003, with the approval of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission and the national authorities, the College of International Education of BUA has launched “3+1” Sino-foreign cooperative education programs with three specialties of two universities abroad.
In 2003, an undergraduate cooperative education program was launched between BUA and Harper Adams University in the UK in two specialties, i.e., International Economics and Trade (International Business Management) and Food Science and Engineering (Food Quality and Retail Management). The program adopts the teaching system and quality assurance system of Harper Adams University, with its specialty courses being taught in English. After studying in China for three years and then going abroad to the UK for their fourth year's further education, students who have completed their study under this program will receive both the graduation certificate and the Bachelor's degree certificate from BUA, meanwhile they will also receive the Bachelor's degree certificate from Harper Adams University. Among the graduates of the previous 14 years under this program, 667 went abroad for further education for their Master’s degrees, accounting for approximately 76% of the graduates.
In June 2012, BUA and Edith Cowan University in Australia also engaged in undergraduate cooperative education in the specialty of Agricultural Resources and Environment (Environmental Management). The program adopts a “3+1” teaching mode. That is, students who have completed three years of study in China and the fourth year of study in Australia under this program will receive both the graduation certificate and the Bachelor's degree certificate from BUA as well as the Bachelor's degree certificate from Edith Cowan University. Among the graduates of the previous four years under this program, 93 went abroad for further education for their Master’s degrees, and 81% of the fresh graduates go on to receive graduate education.
The cooperative education programs of the College of International Education have achieved impressive results, and attracted broad attention of all circles. After years of practice in Sino-foreign cooperative education, we have formed a series of school-running features that are in line with international standards in an all-round manner, covering educational philosophy, educational mode, teaching system, teaching contents, teaching management, and teaching staff, and have developed a domestic teaching team consisting of full-time and part-time Chinese and foreign teachers who have received overseas education and are proficient in English teaching as well as familiar with foreign teaching modes and disciplinary development. Our professional teaching team is composed of 49 members, including 10 professors and associate professors as well as 18 foreign teachers. Throughout the teaching process, we always insist on the principle of “teaching quality as the lifeline of school running”, and adhere to place the students at the center. By offering international education, we strive to enable students to gain competitive advantages in an international environment while acquiring corresponding knowledge and skills.
